Things to do at Beg Meil slipway
This overhang in the water serves as a place to stroll, contemplate the view and allow boats to dock. It was in this beautiful, inspiring setting that Marcel Proust began writing his first novel. He described the place as “an enchanted land of beauty”.
Swimming and water sports
You’ll find plenty of beaches and coves during your stay in Beg Meil. Whether you love long sandy beaches, secret coves orwater sports, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Walks and hikes
From Beg Meil point, you can join the GR34 hiking trail. However, even if you’re not a seasoned hiker, Beg Meil offers some wonderful short walks. The “chemin creux” coastal walk is a fine example. It links the semaphore to the Beg Meil slipway. Stroll between rocks and greenery and admire the views over the Baie de la Forêt.
The fishing and yachting harbour
Take time to stroll around the Beg Meil slipway. You’ll discover a real Breton atmosphere. Depending on the availability of fresh fish, coastal fishermen offer you the assurance of tasting seafood in a short circuit. You can also explore the bay’s superb seabed at the International Scuba Diving Center.
Take advantage of the shuttle service from Beg Meil
As early as 1907, a steamer made the crossing from Beg Meil to Concarneau. Today, tourist shuttles still provide the 30-minute link every day of the week. A wide range of timetables is available. Once there, discover the walled town and the fishing museum.
From the Beg Meil slipway, you can also take the shuttle to the Glénan Islands from April to September, from Tuesday to Saturday, at 10:45 am or 2 pm. There’s no shortage of activities on the Glénan archipelago: hiking, fishing, swimming, diving, water sports and lounging!
Places to discover in Fouesnant

The Pierced Rock is one of those natural wonders you absolutely must see during your camping trip. As well as the rock itself, this site is ideal for a swim in the turquoise waters and for relaxing in one of the sandy coves.
Another must-see site is Cap Coz. Protected from the wind by the Pointe de Beg Meil, this narrow stretch of white sand is a favourite with families, who appreciate the supervised swimming and gentle slope of the beach.
Fouesnant’s beaches are also the perfect place for families to enjoy the pleasures of the water. There are many beaches in and around Fouesnant (Lantecoste, Kerveltrec, plage des Oiseaux, des Dunes, Kermyl, Kerambigorn, etc.). The various coves also invite you to relax and swim in quiet, natural spots.
Finally, to the south of Fouesnant, discover the pointe de Mousterlin and its marshes, an unspoilt natural area. The 9 km trail offers a truly immersive experience of this wilderness area.
